Signs that you may have Kidney Disease

There are a lot of people who are suffering from kidney disease but don’t know it. Though the physical signs show up still most of the people tend to relate it to other conditions. Most people don’t experience symptoms until their kidney failure starts or their urine contains excess protein. Moreover, only 10% of the people suffering from chronic kidney disease know about it!

The only concrete way to check the health of your kidney is to get it tested. You should get your kidneys tested at least once a year if you’re at a risk for kidney disease due to other factors. Some of the signs that show that you might have kidney disease are as follows:-

Fatigue and low concentration level-If you’re facing excess tiredness and weakness with a low concentration level, then you must get your kidneys checked up.
Frequent Urination- The urge to urinate frequently, especially during the night might be a sign of kidney disease. When the kidney filters get damaged, the urge to urinate increases. This may also be a sign of urinary tract infection or enlarged prostate in men.
Dry and itchy skin- Kidneys remove toxins and waste material, help in the production of red blood cells, keep bones strong, and maintain the right amount of minerals in the body. Dry and itchy skin can be a sign of bone disease or disease caused due to lack of minerals, which may also happen due to damaged kidneys that are unable to maintain right amounts of minerals and nutrients in the body.

Bloody urine- If the kidneys have been damaged, the blood cells may leak out in the urine. Thus, bloody urine is a sign of damaged kidneys.

Persistent puffiness around the eyes- When kidneys are damaged, a large amount of protein is passed out in the urine, so your body doesn’t receive enough protein and this causes puffiness.

Muscle Cramps- Electrolyte imbalance due to weak kidneys is common. This may result in muscle cramps.

Swelling of feet and ankles- Sodium retention is caused due to poor kidney function, causing swelling in your feet and ankles.

Foamy Urine- Excessive bubbles that need to be flushed quite a few times indicate that your urine is protein-rich, which again indicates poor kidney health.

Poor appetite- Excessive toxins may accumulate in the body due to poor kidney function thus resulting in poor appetite.

Having trouble sleeping-Toxin buildup in the body may lead to trouble while trying to sleep.
If you face some or any of these symptoms, you should get your kidneys checked, because ‘Prevention is better than cure’.
